Apple Unveils OLED MacBook Pro, M6 iMac and New iPad mini
Apple closed out October with an OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro, an M6 iMac and a redesigned iPad mini with an 8.5-inch OLED display. This week's products go on sale November 6.

After a busy week, Apple has refreshed both its Mac and iPad lines. Over the first three days of the week, the company announced new MacBook Pro models, an updated iMac and a redesigned iPad mini in quick succession. All of this week's products are open for pre-order and go on sale Friday, November 6.
The flurry follows the launch of the iPhone Duo, which reached stores last Friday. Some products announced in early October have yet to ship.

An OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro
The headline announcement came on Wednesday: a MacBook Pro with a PROLED XDR display. It arrives after years of rumors about an OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro. The machine is lighter than its predecessors and has a reinforced hinge that keeps the screen steady when touched. It trades the notch for a Dynamic Island, and an illuminated Apple logo on the lid makes a comeback.
The new models will be sold alongside the existing mini-LED MacBook Pros. They use the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chip options, but the PROLED versions cost $400 more than their mini-LED counterparts.
M6 chip for the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac
The entry level of the MacBook Pro family was updated as well. The base 14-inch model now ships with the M6 chip, which has a 12-core CPU made up of 2 super cores, 4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, plus a 12-core GPU. The previous M5 had a 10-core CPU with 4 super cores and 6 efficiency cores, and a 10-core GPU.
Thanks to Apple's N1 wireless chip, the new model supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. It can also drive two external 4K displays at up to 165Hz, up from 144Hz before.
The 24-inch iMac also moves from the M4 to the M6. The desktop gains Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 through the N1 chip and offers faster SSD speeds. The design is unchanged, and the blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver color options remain.
A redesigned iPad mini
The week's announcements were not limited to the Mac. Apple updated the iPad mini with a larger 8.5-inch display, and it is the first time the model uses OLED. The thinner, lighter device features the A20 Pro chip, an Acoustic Display audio system that eliminates the speaker holes, IP67 water and dust resistance, a landscape-oriented front camera, and an N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Apple describes it as the biggest update to the iPad mini to date.
Mac Studio's 512GB option and the iPhone Duo problem
The top configuration of the M5 Ultra Mac Studio, announced in August, has gone on sale with 512GB of memory, as Apple said it would by the end of October. It requires the highest-end chip, with a 36-core CPU and an 80-core GPU, and is priced at $22,299. Moving from the standard 96GB to 512GB accounts for $15,500 of that on its own.
Meanwhile, some users of the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, which went on sale last Friday, have reported that the inner display cracked suddenly along the hinge line. Apple says it is aware that the problem affects a small share of iPhone Duo units and that affected users can contact AppleCare to get a replacement device.
