Which processor will power the Galaxy S27 Ultra has become a story that keeps changing shape with every new leak. According to the latest statement from leaker Ice Universe, there is currently no sign of an S27 Ultra equipped with the Exynos 2700 in the European market. For the model sold in South Korea, the picture is still unclear.

If the claim holds, European buyers will get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in the Ultra. As always, though, nothing is settled until Samsung makes an official announcement.

Months of shifting leaks

The story began in July with a claim that the Ultra would use a Snapdragon chipset globally, while the rest of the lineup would run the Exynos 2700 outside North America. In early September, some sources alleged that Samsung was producing an Exynos 2700 version of the S27 Ultra for Korea and Europe. In other words, within a few months, conflicting claims about the Ultra's chipset had circulated.

In early October, Samsung was reported to have started mass production of the Exynos 2700, though the final decision on the Ultra was still unclear at that point. A few days later, another leak said the S27 Ultra would be sold only with a Qualcomm processor. In mid-month, a report claimed the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 was overheating in Samsung's tests, which Qualcomm promptly denied. Last week, it was further claimed that the Exynos 2700 had once again outperformed Qualcomm's chipset in internal testing.

What the latest claim says

Ice Universe said he has so far seen no indication that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use the Exynos 2700 in Europe. He added that the situation for South Korea remains unclear. So while there is no Exynos signal for the European model, both options are still on the table for the Korean version.

If accurate, S27 Ultras in Europe will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, while the Korean model could go either way. Given how often the leaks have contradicted one another, this claim is best read not as established fact but as the latest link in the chain. If the trend so far is any guide, further twists would not be surprising before Samsung speaks.

What to keep in mind

The notable point in this saga is that almost none of the claims trace back to an official source. The scenarios floated since July span a wide range, from a global Snapdragon Ultra to Exynos in Korea and Europe, and then to a Qualcomm-only model. Qualcomm's denial of the overheating claim and the leak that the Exynos 2700 beat the Snapdragon in internal tests show how muddled the picture is.

The S27 Ultra's processor choice therefore remains a matter of curiosity, particularly for buyers in Europe and Korea. The final word will come from Samsung's official announcement, and until then every new claim deserves a healthy dose of caution.
