Apple M6 Arrives in the 14-Inch MacBook Pro and iMac
Apple has updated its base 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac with the new M6 chip. Both machines also gain the new N1 wireless chip with Wi-Fi 7 support.

Apple has updated its base 14-inch MacBook Pro and its iMac lineup with the latest-generation M6 chip. The MacBook Pro had until now been sold with the M5, introduced in 2025, while the iMac was last refreshed in 2024 with the M4.
The changes Apple announced center on the processor and wireless connectivity. The iMac additionally gets a nano-texture display option. Beyond that, both the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac remain the same as the models they replace.

14-inch MacBook Pro: 12-core CPU and GPU
The base 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 offers a 12-core CPU in a 2+4+6 configuration alongside a 12-core GPU. Each GPU core includes a Neural Accelerator, and hardware-accelerated ray tracing is supported. The chip also carries a separate pair of 16-core Neural Engines.
The machine starts with 16GB of unified memory, configurable to 24GB or 32GB. Only the 24GB and 32GB options reach the full 170GB/s of memory bandwidth, while the base 16GB configuration is limited to 153GB/s. Storage starts at 1TB as standard, with 2TB and 4TB options available.
Two M6 configurations for the iMac
The iMac comes with two M6 variants. The higher-end model uses the same fully enabled chip as the MacBook Pro, with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU. The base model gets a cut-down version: a 10-core CPU in a 2+3+5 layout and a 10-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and ray tracing. Both models include the dual 16-core Neural Engine.
Standard memory is 16GB on both iMacs, with a 24GB upgrade on the base variant and 24GB or 32GB on the higher-end one. One notable detail is that Apple does not list different memory bandwidth figures for the iMac, which suggests even the 16GB model gets the full 170GB/s. Storage starts at 256GB, with 512GB and 1TB options on both models and an additional 2TB option on the higher-end model. The iMac can also be configured with a nano-texture display.
Apple N1 chip brings Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6
Both products use the new Apple N1 wireless networking chip. It moves Wi-Fi up to Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) and Bluetooth to version 6.
Pricing and availability
The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999. The 10-core iMac starts at $1,499, and the 12-core model at $1,699. Pre-orders for both computers open on October 28, with sales beginning Friday, November 6.
