Pre-orders for the new M6 iMac open on October 28 at 20:10, and the all-in-one will go on sale on November 6. Apple is introducing the model with seven color options and an exceptionally thin design.

According to comparisons on Apple's product page, the new iMac delivers up to 18 times faster graphics performance than the most popular Intel-based iMac, and up to 3.3 times faster graphics than the M1 iMac. Those figures come from the company's own claims. Apple also says its silicon makes macOS remarkably fast and responsive.

Display, audio and camera

The new iMac has a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, which Apple pitches under the slogan "a big display for big ideas." On the audio side, it uses a six-speaker system with Spatial Audio and a studio-quality three-microphone array.

For video calls, there is a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View support. The machine ships with Magic accessories, and on the design front it combines the seven color options with an exceptionally slim body.

Connectivity and AI features

For connectivity, the iMac supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Depending on configuration, it offers up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, and 2.5Gb Ethernet is available as an option.

On the AI side, the machine supports Apple Intelligence and Siri AI. Apple says AI makes everything from searching in Mail to editing video easier. It also notes that Siri AI is available only in certain languages and may be subject to usage limits.

Configuration and purchase options

When buying online from Apple, customers can customize the machine by choosing the chip, memory, storage capacity and color. Those who need an extra-powerful chip, more memory or additional storage can configure any of the new Mac models to suit their needs. Customers can also pick up in-stock items from an Apple Store.

Cardholders from participating banks can pay in monthly installments and earn reward points that can be spent on purchases, subject to certain terms. University students and educators can take advantage of special education pricing through the Apple Store.

Apple says its specialists are available for one-on-one live help through the Apple Store or online store. The Apple Store app offers personalized product recommendations, model comparisons, access to a Saved Products list and order tracking.

Apple describes the iMac as an all-in-one desktop for creativity and productivity, and stresses that it is the smallest and most affordable Mac desktop, with performance that punches well above its size.
