The Elder Scrolls 6 Reportedly Subtitled 'Sentinel'; Reveal Near
The Elder Scrolls 6 will reportedly carry the subtitle 'Sentinel', with an official announcement possible as early as next month.

The official name of The Elder Scrolls 6 may finally be about to emerge. According to the sources behind the report, the game's subtitle will be 'Sentinel', and the name could be formally announced as early as next month. Fans had already guessed the same title earlier this year.
It has been 15 years since Skyrim, the last mainline entry in the series. The Elder Scrolls 6 itself was announced at E3 2018, nearly eight years ago. After such a long silence, the game returning to the spotlight would be a major event.
Fan guesses and a hint from an Xbox executive
The claim lines up with earlier fan speculation. It also appears consistent with a hint shared in August by Asha Sharma, who leads Xbox. In a post saying she had watched live gameplay of the game, Sharma masked the name with asterisks, and the title appeared to have eight letters.
In the same post, Sharma said the game's scale and grandeur were incredible and that the story was even more impressive.
Hammerfell reportedly takes center stage
As in earlier Elder Scrolls games, Sentinel is said to focus on a specific region of Tamriel. This time the setting is Hammerfell, a province that has appeared in the series' spin-offs but has never had a mainline game of its own. The game is also said to explore the 'history of the Elder Scrolls', helping players uncover the secrets of these mysterious ancient artifacts.
These details match rumors and reports that have circulated before. None of them has been officially confirmed by Bethesda.
Bethesda's long silence and development concerns
Since the unusually early initial announcement, Bethesda has stayed largely quiet on The Elder Scrolls 6. Studio head Todd Howard has spoken about the game in general terms several times but has avoided offering concrete details. In July, following Xbox's acquisition of Bethesda and shifts in its console-focused strategy, Howard was asked whether the game would be console-exclusive. He said it was too early to comment on which platforms it would launch on.
Also in July, Bethesda developers voiced concerns that mass layoffs across Xbox, which also affected Bethesda, could have serious and cascading effects on the game's development and on team morale. Against that backdrop, a re-reveal would be a significant moment for both the studio and players.
